Where Creativity Meets Invention: Unveiling the Wonders of the Cade Museum in Gainesville, FL

Address: 811 S Main St, Gainesville, FL 32601

The StayGainesville Connection: One of our owners, Susannah Peddie, has a special place in her heart for the museum. She was one of the original Board Members of the Cade Museum and worked with Phoebe and Richard Miles to help make the dream of the museum become a reality. When her son was 2 years old, she was greatly inspired to make sure he had the most opportunities possible in Gainesville, and many (many) years later, they still visit the museum regularly (and Phillip is 17 now).

Nestled amidst the vibrant college town of Gainesville, Florida, lies a museum unlike any other – the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention (https://cademuseum.org/). This innovative museum isn't just a repository of artifacts; it's a playground for the mind, a catalyst for inspiration, and a celebration of the transformative power of human ingenuity. Fueled by the vision of Dr. Robert Cade, the inventor of Gatorade, the Cade Museum ignites a passion for creativity and invention in visitors of all ages.

A Legacy of Innovation: The Story Behind the Cade Museum

The Cade Museum's story begins with Dr. Robert Cade, a University of Florida kidney specialist with a keen mind and a thirst for problem-solving. In 1965, Dr. Cade set out to create a solution to combat the dehydration and fatigue experienced by the university's football players during grueling practices under the Florida sun. The result? Gatorade, a revolutionary sports drink that has become a global phenomenon.

Driven by the belief that creativity and invention are fundamental to progress, Dr. Cade and his family established the Cade Museum Foundation in 2004. Their vision was to create a space that would inspire future generations of inventors, entrepreneurs, and visionaries. After years of fundraising and construction, the Cade Museum officially opened its doors in 2018, welcoming visitors to embark on a journey through the fascinating world of invention. Daughter, Phoebe Cade, along with the help of her family and the community, brought the museum dream to a reality.
