University of Florida Performing Arts: UFPA- Behind the Curtains

Raising the Curtain on Excellence: A Look at the University of Florida Performing Arts

Address: 3201 Hull Road, Gainesville, FL

The StayGainesville Connection: StayGainesville's Susannah Peddie and her husband started attending UFPA's performances regularly in 2003. Susannah soon became very involved in volunteering on committees and soon joined the UFPA's Board of Directors. She served as President of the Board of Directors for 2 years and continued to support the arts. When she moved to Gainesville from New York City, she was thrilled to find that Gainesville attracted so many revered artists, such as Yo-Yo Ma, Ravi Shankar,  and Joshua Bell, as well as previous Broadway performances such as Miss Saigon, Westside Story, Avenue Q, and The Book for Mormon. She used to take her small son to performances at night and left during "Half time" (a.k.a. Gainesville speak for intermission). Definitely attend a performance while you're in town!

The University of Florida (UF) is renowned for its academic excellence and vibrant student life. However, beyond the bustling classrooms and spirited sports teams lies another realm – the captivating world of the University of Florida Performing Arts (UFPA). UFPA serves as a cultural cornerstone, a platform for artistic expression, and a launchpad for aspiring performers.
